Legend has it that when the Bantu came to central-southern Africa, they found the San people, who were much shorter than them. On meeting a member of the San people (formerly bushmen) the Bantu would be asked: Mwamwena kwi (Where was I when you saw me?). If the person answered here! He would be killed. If he answered over there! He would be spared.
